Newnans Lake, or Lake Pithlacoco, is the largest body of water in Gainesville and is an important part of our local watershed. With a fascinating history and untouched wildlife, especially eagles, herons, otters, and yes, alligators, it is an incredible spot for sunsets. Only 10 minutes from downtown.

Orange lake is the largest lake in the north central region of Florida and is fed by outflow from Newnans Lake through the River Styx. Orange lake is a designated fish management area and is well known for bass fishing. About 25 minute drive from downtown.
